Unified communication solutions have bright future survey says

As this blog covered, the VoIP market is set up for worldwide growth. IT spending in the market is expected to reach $2.1 trillion for telecommunications by 2013. Unified communication options are helping to drive that growth and the numbers back it up.

A new study released by COMMfusion and UCStrategies, looks at the unified communications market from 2011 and extrapolates to the year 2016. It looks at where the industry is going and why it has become more popular.

"The need for UCC has never been greater, as the growth of the mobile workforce has led to the need for workers to communicate regardless of their location or device, and the rise of video communication and tools such as social software have created new ways for people to interact," the release says. "Trends such as the consumerization of IT, Bring Your Own Device, and virtualization are helping to propel the UCC market."

According to the report, the UC-capable market was $12.23 billion in 2011, up 8 percent from the year before, and is expected to grow to $20.76 billion by 2016. The portion of this that is expected to be purchased and used for "true" UCC solutions will grow from $2.7 billion in 2011 to $8.47 billion by 2016 and professional services will increase the product revenues by 27 percent in 2011.
