VoIP market set for growth worldwide

VoIP services are growing as more companies worldwide look to save money. Unified communication systems are helping businesses of any size stay connected and as Internet availability increases, more employees are able to interact with one another from anyplace with a signal.

Last week, TechNavio – an independent marketing firm – released a new study that looked at the future of the VoIP market through 2015. According to the numbers, the industry is expected to see a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.1 percent.

"Currently, service providers are focusing on SIP-based VoIP services, as they help them to deliver improved features and better quality of services such as a video mail answering system and call forwarding features to voice mail," said a TechNavio analyst in a press release.

While flexibility, easier management and outright cost savings are some of the advantages that VoIP services offer, a key factor that contributed to its rapid market growth is the low cost of communication services, according to the report.

Telecommunication services are also still on top of worldwide IT spending. According to a new study by research firm Gartner, companies are predicted to spend $3.6 trillion on technology in 2012, $2 trillion of which will be on telecommunication equipment and services. That number is also expected to rise to $2.1 trillion in 2013.
